Our Projects
These are our most recent projects in 2026:
Winter Boots, Snowshoes, and Ramp
The BABB Foundation was thrilled to host a pizza party in early October to distribute new Kamik winter boots to all of the kids, teachers, and staff at our local Head Start and Elementary School as well as snowshoes for all the students.
The board greatly appreciates our anonymous donor’s generosity as well as the collaboration with our local schools. Head Start and Babb Elementary are the bedrock of our community, so it was a special pleasure to snap this photo of some of the kids (wearing their new boots!) on the ramp we built and installed just last week next to one of the trees we planted this past spring.
Thank you for helping us continue our mission of strengthening safety, recreation, and education opportunities in the St. Mary Valley. Now we just have to wait for some snow to try out the snowshoes!
Summer Social
The BABB Foundation was fortunate to be on the receiving end of the Park Cabin Company’s Summer Social gathering as all the proceeds from a fabulous bake sale benefited our project initiatives. The event also featured a book giveaway courtesy of The Lisa Libraries, lawn games and lots of kids activities (including a very well utilized bouncy-splash-castle), honey for sale and an educational observation hive set up by Chief Mountain Honey, and tasty cold beverages served up by our own BABBTized Barista.
Babb Head Start
Our local Head Start is foundational to our community. We added gravel to the parking lot in partnership with the Milk River Project and local contractor and restaurateur Bob Burns.
Tree Planting
The BABB Foundation applied for and received a $350 grant from the Montana DNRC to plant Weeping Birch trees at our local Head Start and Elementary School to celebrate Arbor Day. The grant and matching funds from BABB also provided for snacks and refreshments. Each student received a Colorado Blue Spruce sapling and tomato start to plant at home. We were very fortunate to host Kari Lewis of the MSU Glacier County Extension office and appreciated her expertise and instruction on caring for our newly planted trees.
Babb Elementary Playground & Walking Path
We are working to raise funding to support a walking path and gathering space at our local elementary school in conjunction with the Browning Public School District #9’s plan to replace our aging playground.
Our efforts have already secured an additional swingset (with a toddler sized extra swing for the littles) and we hope to secure additional funding through grants and fundraising this spring.
Babb/St. Mary Volunteer Fire Department
One of our short and long term goals is to support our local fire department by providing funding for resources, training, and much need equipment to better face the increased danger of wildfire and structure fires in our remote area.
Lisa Libraries Grant
The Babb Foundation is thrilled to be the recipient of several hundred books for kids aged 0-12 from the Lisa Libraries. Many will be distributed to our community kiddos and the rest will go to the libraries at our local Head Start and Elementary School.
